Sam and Max Birthday Card

Layout image of a Sam & Max themed birthday card for a friend. Max's lower Jaw is a separate section made from a piece of Bristol board with a strip and tab on the end of it. The tab lies on the inside of the card and can be pulled up and down to give Max a talking/chewing/gnashing motion.

Stupidly of me the main card is made out of thinner paper than the jaw so it catches and snags when being pulled more than it should. The actual strip/tab is too long for the card to freestand properly so I had to bend it at the bottom to factor that in. My dad, an engineer, took great pride in pointing out my design flaws.

The colours were done in promarker and I'm actually fairly happy with my inking for once. Getting Max's head right boiled down to drawing sets of circles and ovals before drawing one side of his head to standard I was happy with and simply tracing it over to the other side.

Stupidly I wanted to hand letter the instructions on the back rather than do it digitally. It tooks 3-4 days on and off because I kept killing pens. It looks really messy on the scan and is probably some of the shoddiest lettering I've done in a while.

Hopefully its soon to be owner will overlook this.
