Getting lazy again with this one. This weeks strip is drawn in the midst of forgetting to do my share of the cleaning, falling behind on comics work and getting sub hired to write a book then finding out all but three of your review choices were already done when you picked em'. That and going to a Wildhearts gig.
That was fuckin' aces.
So this strip carries on the numerical sub titles theme and yes, every track listed is a genuine third track on either singles, b-sides, albums, remixes or best of discs. The songs were chosen to drop in energy as the sun goes down but it goes wrong between panels 4 and 5 as I realised that Wave Of Mutilation is probably more energetic than Down In The Basement.
All in all it was a way for me to introduce colour to the strip without going down the Wizard Of Oz/Hewlligans Haircut route. It also denotes the end of summer and beginning of autumn. The line arts a fucking mess though as I did the whole thing in a couple of hours.
And yes, that Sun is indeed a thinly veiled Spider Jerusalem. At one point it was going to be Morgan Freeman or Ray Charles but I changed my mind while I was on the shitter.
For years as a child, I thought that the Wizard of Oz had been made about the time they invented colour, and that they decided to start using it from the point when she enters Oz. The metaphor went totally over my head
Can't promise anything but there may, may be some sort of collections for next year. A Fecal Depot book would have to be done before What Are You? though.
