Zeitgeist Final

Description

A storyboard idea for a photography project on Zeitgeist.

As it must be pretty obvious to anyone I was in a fairly cranky mod when I thought this up and already I'm questioning the level of violence. The idea was to represent how certain faceless aspects such as lies can have a habit of stabbing people in the back out of no where. To that degree I wanted the violence to be sudden and shocking to carry the metaphor in a simple fashion. It may still have been a push too far (and was a bastard to do with out an airbrush).

The visual influences for this a numerous. The knives aspect was taken from watching Goodfella's again a few weeks ago with starting scene of Joe Pesci stabbing away at an essentially innoccent man. The faceless men was from an old GCSE project I did on a similar but non violent theme. The actual frame layout was lifted from a fantastic page by Simon Fraser in Nikolai Dante - Battleship Potemkin [link] and made want to use the page gutter itself to tell the story aswell. The way I drew the blood came from the very first page of Rouruni Kenshin and Dom Reardons work on Caballistics Inc.

Finally, I've no idea if this had any real affect over the art but tracks I listened to whilst drawing this included: Nine Black Alps - Get Your Guns, The Walkmen - Little House Of Savages, The Young Knives - Here Comes The Rumour Mill, Hotchip - Over And Over and Kinesis - Cling To Your Innocence.
