This whole bloody thing took far longer than it should've done. 5 months on and off in fact.

What started out as a quirky little gag strip to submit to the DFC rapidly became a fucking nightmare as I pissed and moaned my way through having to avoid drawing it. The script went throught about 3 drafts within a week and the chracter of Professor Oxford was designed in about 5 minutes in a mates living room.

Then Oxford overall body shape got tweaked and tweaked and tweaked over the space of a month. The actual page art is probably the most labour intensive and overly elaborate comic I've ever done. At one point it was going to be an entry to the Observer short story contest but I missed that deadline by miles.

Foolishlly I scannned the pages on an A3 scanner at every stage to give the option of greater editing if I buggered up later on. That resulted in doing stupid thing like carving out each speech bubble by hand and having them glued on to the final art etc.

I distinctly remember spending over 2 days drawing and inking the titles box.

The moral of the story? Don't making drawing comics become an exercise in polishing a turd.
